In 2015, more than 80 % of children aged from 0 to 12 killed on the road were car occupants. These dramatic figures result from the misuse of the child car seat (choice of the wrong type of seat or seat not properly fitted).
By setting a reduced VAT for this essential equipment five European countries have already taken the right step to promote the renewal of car seats for children and allow parents to access reliable child car restraints.
The French Association Prévention Routière is therefore asking the Government to follow the example of these countries and to lower the VAT for child car seats from 20% to 5.5%.
